Description
Overview
The SECO 5200-165 Claw Clamp with Compass and 40-Minute Vial is a durable pole-mounted component designed for building a customized data collector or tablet mounting system.
Constructed from anodized aluminum, the Claw clamp securely attaches to standard 1.25-inch outside-diameter survey poles. SECO’s Claw technology allows the clamp to be tightened firmly while helping prevent the pole from being crushed or damaged.
An integrated compass and 40-minute vial provide convenient orientation and leveling references, while the included 1-inch RAM-style ball supports compatible ball-and-socket arms, cradles, and mounting accessories.
Key Features
- Heavy-duty Claw pole clamp
- SECO part number: 5200-165

SECO Claw Clamping Technology
SECO’s Claw design securely grips the survey pole while helping distribute clamping pressure around the pole surface.
This allows the clamp to be tightened firmly without placing excessive crushing force on compatible aluminum or carbon fiber poles. The design is especially useful when mounting expensive data collectors, tablets, or other field hardware that must remain securely positioned during surveying and construction work.
Fits 1.25-Inch Survey Poles
The SECO 5200-165 is designed for poles with an outside diameter of:
- 1.25 in
- 32 mm
This diameter is commonly used for GNSS rover rods, prism poles, antenna poles, and other professional surveying poles.
The pole’s outside diameter should be confirmed before ordering.
Integrated Compass
A compass is built into the clamp assembly to provide a convenient directional reference in the field.
The compass can assist with approximate pole or equipment orientation during GNSS surveying, mapping, construction layout, and other data-collection applications.
It is intended as a general orientation aid rather than a replacement for precision survey bearings.
Integrated 40-Minute Vial
The clamp includes a 40-minute vial for checking whether the attached survey pole is vertical.
Keeping the pole plumb helps position a GNSS receiver, prism, antenna, or other mounted equipment directly above the intended measurement point.
The vial should be checked periodically as part of routine field-equipment inspection.
One-Inch RAM-Style Ball
An integrated 1-inch RAM-style ball provides the connection point for compatible ball-and-socket mounting components.
When paired with an appropriate connecting arm and controller cradle, the ball joint allows the data collector or tablet to be positioned at a range of viewing angles.
This flexible positioning can improve display visibility and operator comfort during field data entry.
Customizable Mounting System
The SECO 5200-165 is designed as a component for creating a customized pole-mounted controller solution.
Compatible components may include:
- Ball-and-socket connecting arms
- Controller cradles
- Tablet holders
- Data collector mounts
- Quick-release mounting components
Only components compatible with the 1-inch ball interface should be used.
Anodized Aluminum Construction
The clamp is manufactured from durable anodized aluminum.
Anodizing improves surface durability and corrosion resistance while keeping the assembly lightweight enough for routine use on rover rods and prism poles.
The metal construction is designed for repeated adjustment in professional surveying and construction environments.
Ideal Applications
- GNSS rover surveying
- Robotic total station operation
- Construction layout
- Survey stakeout
- GIS data collection
- Utility mapping
- Topographic surveying
- Boundary surveying
- Controller pole mounting
- Tablet pole mounting
- Custom field-equipment mounting systems
