CHCNAV LT800: Rugged Field Data Collector

The CHCNAV LT800 is designed primarily as a rugged Android field tablet and data collector. Its internal 45-channel GNSS module tracks GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo signals and provides approximately 2–5 meter autonomous horizontal positioning.

For centimeter-level RTK surveying, the LT800 can be paired with a dedicated GNSS receiver such as the CHCNAV i76, i83, i85, i89, i93, or ViLi i100. In this configuration, the external receiver performs the high-precision GNSS positioning while the LT800 runs LandStar and serves as the field interface.

This makes the LT800 a strong choice for users who need:

  • A large-screen GNSS data collector
  • Construction layout with an external GNSS rover
  • Survey point collection
  • CAD-based stakeout
  • GIS field data collection
  • Mapping
  • Field project management
  • A rugged Android replacement for a consumer tablet

The current LT800 specification provides 8 GB RAM, 256 GB internal storage, and MicroSD expansion up to 1 TB, giving it substantial capacity for CAD drawings, imagery, maps, project files, and field documentation.

CHCNAV LT800H: Integrated Survey-Grade RTK GNSS

The CHCNAV LT800H takes the LT800 platform and adds a significantly more capable 1408-channel multi-frequency GNSS module.

Unlike the standard LT800, the LT800H can perform centimeter-level RTK positioning directly from the tablet without requiring a separate GNSS receiver for applications where tablet-mounted positioning is appropriate. CHCNAV specifies maximum RTK accuracy of approximately 2 cm horizontal.

Supported GNSS signals include:

  • GPS: L1C/A, L2C, L2P(Y), L5
  • GLONASS: L1, L2, L3*
  • Galileo: E1, E5a, E5b, E6*
  • BeiDou: B1I, B2I, B3I, B1C, B2a, B2b*
  • QZSS: L1C/A, L1C, L2C, L5
  • NavIC / IRNSS: L5
  • SBAS: L1, L5*

*Signal availability may depend on firmware and satellite service availability.

LT800H RTK, PPK, and PPP Positioning

The LT800H supports several professional GNSS positioning workflows beyond basic autonomous positioning.

RTK

CHCNAV specifies:

  • Horizontal: 2 cm HRMS
  • Multi-constellation, multi-frequency RTK
  • Compatible with standard GNSS RTK network correction services

PPK

  • Horizontal: 3 mm + 1 ppm RMS
  • Vertical: 5 mm + 1 ppm RMS

PPP

The LT800H supports PPP-B2b and Galileo E6B-HAS.

CHCNAV specifies PPP performance of:

  • Without external antenna: 10 cm H / 20 cm V
  • With external antenna: 5 cm H / 10 cm V
  • Initialization: less than 3 minutes under appropriate conditions

This gives the LT800H significantly more flexibility for GIS, mapping, asset collection, and other applications where integrating the GNSS receiver and field computer into one device simplifies the workflow.

8.1" Sunlight-Readable Display

Both LT800 variants use an 8.1-inch IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 × 1200.

The screen provides:

  • 600 cd/m² brightness
  • Glare-resistant design
  • Capacitive 5-point multi-touch
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • IPS display technology

The larger screen provides considerably more viewing area than a traditional handheld controller, making it especially useful when working with CAD drawings, aerial imagery, surfaces, road designs, maps, and large point datasets.

Android Field Computing

The LT800 platform runs Android and is designed to function as both a professional field controller and a general-purpose mobile computing device.

Current models feature:

  • 2.0 GHz octa-core processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 256 GB internal storage
  • MicroSD expansion
  • Google Mobile Services certification

Google Mobile Services support provides access to common Android applications alongside professional surveying software, allowing crews to use cloud storage, email, mapping applications, file management tools, and other field applications from the same device.

LandStar 8 Data Collection Software

The LT800 and LT800H are designed to work closely with CHCNAV LandStar 8, CHCNAV's Android field data collection software for professional surveying, engineering, mapping, GIS, construction layout, road stakeout, pipeline work, and other geospatial applications.

LandStar also supports extensive CAD, GIS, coordinate, and survey file compatibility, including formats such as DWG, DXF, SHP, KML, KMZ, CSV, XLSX, LandXML, Trimble JXL, Trimble DC, and Leica LOK, depending on the workflow.

LandStar Licensing

LandStar licensing is available in three primary configurations:

  • LandStar GNSS License
  • LandStar TPS / Total Station License
  • LandStar GNSS + TPS License

The GNSS and total station functions are licensed independently, allowing the software configuration to match the instruments being used.

LandStar licensing should be selected separately according to the required configuration unless specifically included with the selected product package.

Connect External CHCNAV GNSS Receivers

When used as a controller, the LT800 or LT800H can run LandStar while connecting to compatible CHCNAV GNSS receivers.

This provides a large-screen interface for configuring RTK corrections, creating projects, managing coordinate systems, collecting survey points, and performing stakeout.

The LT800 user guide specifically walks users through launching LandStar 8, creating a project, assigning a coordinate system, connecting GNSS instrumentation, and beginning field survey operations.

For professional boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveying, pairing either tablet with a dedicated survey-grade GNSS receiver provides the familiar receiver-on-pole + tablet/controller workflow.

4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC

Both tablets provide multiple communication methods for field connectivity.

Available connectivity includes:

  • 4G LTE
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
  • Bluetooth 5.1
  • NFC
  • USB Type-C
