SECO 5217-05 Thumb-Release Mini Bipod

Overview

The SECO 5217-05 Thumb-Release Mini Bipod provides compact, adjustable support for prism poles, rover rods, GNSS antenna poles, and other compatible survey poles.

Based on the design of SECO’s popular 5217-04 bipod, this shorter version is well suited for low-height setups, confined areas, monitoring work, and applications where a full-size bipod would be unnecessarily large.

The open clamp accepts poles from 1 to 1.25 inches in outside diameter. Compatible 1.5-inch OD poles can also be installed through the top of the clamp. The bipod extends to 35 inches and collapses to only 25 inches for convenient transportation and storage.

Compact Mini Bipod Design

The SECO 5217-05 uses the same general design concept as the full-size 5217-04 bipod in a shorter configuration.

Its compact dimensions make it easier to position in restricted work areas and more convenient to transport in survey vehicles, equipment cases, and storage compartments.

The shorter legs are especially useful when supporting a pole close to the ground or when a standard-height bipod would interfere with nearby structures or equipment.

Open-Clamp Pole Mounting

Poles from 1 to 1.25 inches in outside diameter can be installed directly through the open clamp.

The side-loading design allows a compatible pole to be attached without removing the prism, GNSS receiver, antenna, or other equipment mounted on top.

Supported standard pole diameters include:

• 1 in OD
• 1.25 in OD
• 25.4 to 31.8 mm OD

Always confirm the outside diameter of the pole before ordering.

Top-Loading 1.5-Inch Poles

Compatible poles with a 1.5-inch, or 38.1 mm, outside diameter can be loaded through the top of the bipod clamp.

Because these larger poles cannot pass through the open side of the clamp, accessories may need to be removed from the pole before installation.

Adjustable Working Length

The SECO 5217-05 has the following specified length range:

• Extended length: 35 in (88.9 cm)
• Collapsed length: 25 in (63.5 cm)

This compact adjustment range provides stable pole support while remaining easier to carry and store than a full-size bipod.
