Overview
The CHCNAV ViLi i100 is a flagship Visual-LiDAR GNSS RTK receiver designed to extend high-accuracy surveying into environments where conventional GNSS receivers may struggle. It combines an 1892-channel GNSS engine, CHCNAV iStar2.0 technology, a 96-line LiDAR scanner capturing up to 860,544 points per second, 200 Hz AUTO-IMU, multiple cameras, and CHCNAV’s SFix 2.0 positioning technology in one integrated field system.
Unlike a conventional RTK rover that depends primarily on an open view of the sky, the ViLi i100 uses GNSS, LiDAR, cameras, IMU data, and SLAM-based positioning together to maintain useful survey accuracy around buildings, under structures, in narrow alleys, beneath tree canopy, and even during short periods where GNSS signals are unavailable.
In GNSS-obstructed environments, CHCNAV specifies better than 5 cm absolute positioning accuracy through advanced multipath filtering and multi-sensor fusion. In GNSS-denied areas, the ViLi i100’s SFix 2.0 system can maintain approximately 5 cm accuracy within a 20 m radius, allowing survey crews to continue collecting points where a conventional RTK rover might otherwise lose its fixed solution.
This complete kit also includes the CHCNAV LT800 Android tablet, tablet bracket, and LandStar 8 software, providing a ready-to-use surveying system for RTK, LiDAR, point cloud, visual stakeout, and earthwork applications.

Survey Where Conventional GNSS Struggles
The primary advantage of the ViLi i100 is its ability to continue working when satellite visibility becomes obstructed.
Tall buildings, bridges, trees, retaining walls, narrow corridors, and other structures can block or reflect GNSS signals. These multipath reflections can cause a conventional receiver to produce unstable coordinates or lose its fixed solution entirely.
The ViLi i100 combines LiDAR-derived 3D information with real-time satellite path analysis to identify and filter GNSS signals affected by obstructions and reflections. CHCNAV states this provides approximately 3× better multipath auto-filtering and helps maintain consistent positioning with better than 5 cm absolute accuracy in difficult environments.
This makes the ViLi i100 especially useful for:
- Urban surveying
- Narrow alleys
- Dense construction sites
- Areas beside high-rise buildings
- Under tree canopy
- Under eaves
- Beneath viaducts and bridges
- Other partially obstructed sites
SFix 2.0 for GNSS-Denied Areas
When GNSS signals are unavailable altogether, the ViLi i100 can transition to SFix 2.0.
SFix combines the receiver’s high-speed LiDAR scanner, IMU, cameras, and SLAM-based positioning to continue estimating the receiver’s position relative to its previously established GNSS position.
CHCNAV specifies:
- With GNSS signal: ±3 cm at 2σ
- Without GNSS signal: ±5 cm at 2σ within a 20 m radius
- Seamless SFix initialization
- 0–360° tilt-supported positioning
This capability allows a surveyor to initialize the system in an area with good GNSS coverage and then continue into a temporarily GNSS-denied location.
Examples include:
- Moving beneath a bridge
- Entering a covered structure
- Surveying between buildings
- Working underneath overhangs
- Entering dense vegetation
- Measuring around structural obstructions
CHCNAV notes that accuracy in heavily obstructed areas begins to degrade after approximately 20 m without GNSS, so SFix is primarily intended to bridge short GNSS outages rather than replace GNSS indefinitely.
Vi-LiDAR Contactless Surveying
The ViLi i100 can also use its LiDAR and camera system to remotely measure points without placing the range pole directly on the target.
With Vi-LiDAR, the operator captures a scene using the receiver’s camera and LiDAR. After the image is captured, individual target points can be selected from the image and their 3D coordinates calculated.
Multiple points can be selected from the same capture, eliminating the need to aim at and occupy each point individually.
CHCNAV specifies:
- Multiple survey points from a single captured scene
- Survey range up to approximately 20 m
- Typical accuracy of approximately ±5 cm at 15 m with GNSS
- SFix-assisted operation when GNSS is unavailable
This workflow can be useful when measuring:
- Building corners
- Utility structures
- Fences
- Areas across traffic
- Excavations
- Slopes
- Restricted-access locations
- Points across water
- Dangerous or unstable surfaces
Instead of balancing the range pole precisely over every target, the operator can capture the scene from a safe position and select the necessary coordinates afterward.
8 MP Telephoto Camera
The ViLi i100 incorporates an 8 MP HD telephoto camera to improve target identification at longer distances.
CHCNAV specifies clear visual targeting at approximately 15 m, helping operators identify and select points accurately within complex scenes.
The complete camera system includes:
- 8 MP HD telephoto camera
- Two additional 2 MP cameras
- Dedicated bottom camera for AR stakeout
- Wide-angle point-cloud colorization
- True-color point cloud support
The user guide identifies a total of four camera positions: the main Vi-LiDAR / AR camera, left and right auxiliary cameras for point-cloud colorization, and the bottom AR stakeout camera.
860,544 Points-Per-Second LiDAR Scanner
The ViLi i100 integrates a 96-line LiDAR scanner capable of collecting up to 860,544 points per second in single-echo mode.
LiDAR specifications include:
- 96 scanning lines
- 860,544 points/sec
- 360° horizontal field of view
- 90° vertical field of view
- 30 m range at 10% reflectivity
- 70 m range at 80% reflectivity
- Class 1 eye-safe laser classification
This LiDAR data serves multiple functions within the receiver, including:
- SFix positioning
- Vi-LiDAR remote point collection
- Point cloud scanning
- Multipath analysis
- Earthwork volume calculations
- 3D documentation
Real-Time 3D Point Cloud Scanning
The ViLi i100 can operate as a handheld / pole-mounted point cloud scanner directly through LandStar.
After SLAM initialization, operators can walk around the target area while the receiver generates a live 3D point cloud. The LandStar interface provides a real-time preview of the scanned area as data is collected.
Point cloud files can be exported as LAS files with georeferenced coordinates, allowing the data to be used in compatible point-cloud and CAD workflows.
The system provides 64 GB of internal storage, which CHCNAV specifies as sufficient for approximately:
- 1 hour of on-site scan storage, or
- 30 hours of point-cloud data storage
Storage can be expanded up to 1 TB.
On-Site Earthwork Volume Calculations
The ViLi i100 and LandStar can also perform real-time point cloud earthwork calculations.
Instead of collecting individual ground points and processing the surface later in the office, the operator can scan a stockpile, excavation, or earthwork area and calculate the volume directly in LandStar.
The workflow allows the operator to:
- Scan the target area.
- Generate the point cloud.
- Define the calculation boundary.
- Select the appropriate surface or Stockpile/Pit calculation mode.
- Calculate the volume.
- Export an earthwork report.
CHCNAV promotes this workflow as non-contact measurement, helping reduce the need to climb on stockpiles or enter potentially unsafe excavation areas. The manufacturer states 99.98% accuracy for its real-time earthwork calculation workflow under its specified test conditions.
1892-Channel GNSS with iStar2.0
The ViLi i100 remains a fully capable professional RTK receiver in addition to its LiDAR capabilities.
Its 1892-channel GNSS engine with iStar2.0 supports:
- GPS: L1C/A, L1C, L2C, L2P(Y), L5
- GLONASS: G1, G2, G3
- BeiDou: B1I, B2I, B3I, B1C, B2a, B2b

200 Hz AUTO-IMU Tilt Compensation
The ViLi i100 incorporates a 200 Hz AUTO-IMU for tilt-compensated GNSS surveying.
The system supports pole tilt angles from 0–60°, allowing measurements to be collected without holding the range pole perfectly vertical.
CHCNAV specifies additional horizontal tilt uncertainty of approximately:
8 mm + 0.3 mm/° when tilted up to 30°
Tilt compensation can improve productivity around:
- Walls
- Fences
- Buildings
- Vegetation
- Vehicles
- Excavations
- Other obstacles
CAD + AR Visual Stakeout
The ViLi i100 also supports AR Visual Stakeout using its integrated camera system and LandStar.
Instead of relying only on conventional directional arrows, LandStar can display the target point within a live camera view.
The system can use the front camera while approaching the point and transition to the downward camera at close range. Once the virtual pole tip reaches the displayed target, the stakeout point can be stored.
CHCNAV states that its dual-camera CAD + AR stakeout workflow can improve stakeout efficiency by up to 50% in suitable applications.
UHF, NTRIP, and PPP Rover Support
The ViLi i100 is designed as an all-in-one rover that can operate with several correction methods.
Supported workflows include:
- UHF RTK
- NTRIP / CORS
- PPP
- Conventional GNSS RTK
- SFix
- Vi-LiDAR
The built-in UHF radio is an Rx-only receiver, meaning the ViLi i100 can receive UHF corrections from a base station but does not transmit corrections as a UHF base.
UHF specifications include:
- 410–470 MHz
- Internal Rx-only radio
- CHC protocol
- Transparent protocol
- TT450 protocol
This differentiates the ViLi i100 from some CHCNAV GNSS receivers with Tx/Rx radios. The ViLi i100 is primarily intended to function as a high-end rover.
