Description
Description
Overview
The SECO 5129-52 Robotics Carbon Fiber Prism Pole is a lightweight telescoping pole designed for robotic total station surveying, construction layout, stakeout, and other precision prism applications.
The pole is graduated to read directly when used with a 135 mm prism height, reducing the need to manually add the prism dimension when setting the measurement height. Compatible adapters can be used to achieve other prism-height configurations.
A stainless-steel pin locks the inner pole at holes spaced every 0.5 ft, while SECO’s TLV locking mechanism provides additional height adjustment and includes a built-in 40-minute vial. Dual centimeter and 0.01 ft graduations support both metric and decimal-foot workflows.

Direct-Reading 135 mm Prism Height
The SECO 5129-52 is graduated to read directly when used with a prism height of 135 mm.
This allows the operator to read the effective prism height directly from the pole scale without separately adding the standard 135 mm prism dimension. The final prism height should still be verified and entered correctly into the total station or field software before measuring.
Other Prism-Height Configurations
Compatible adapters can be used to configure the pole for prism heights other than 135 mm.
The correct adapter should be selected according to the prism, mounting interface, and required measurement height. Adapters are sold separately unless otherwise specified.
Dual Metric and Decimal-Foot Graduations
The inner pole includes two graduation systems:
- Centimeters
- Decimal feet graduated to 0.01 ft
The dual-scale design allows the same pole to support metric and engineering-foot surveying workflows.
Stainless-Steel Locking Pin
A stainless-steel pin locks the inner pole at predetermined height positions.
The locking holes are spaced every 0.5 ft, providing repeatable fixed-height settings and helping prevent the pole from slipping after the desired position is selected.
Stainless-steel construction provides durability and corrosion resistance for regular field use.
SECO TLV Lock
The pole includes SECO’s TLV locking mechanism for securing the telescoping inner section.
The TLV lock provides adjustable positioning when the required height falls between the fixed 0.5 ft pin locations. Its built-in vial keeps the leveling reference conveniently positioned near the locking mechanism.
Integrated 40-Minute Vial
A 40-minute vial is built directly into the TLV lock.
The vial helps the operator keep the prism pole vertical over a control point, stake, monument, nail, or other survey reference. Maintaining a plumb pole positions the prism directly above the intended measurement point.
Carbon Fiber Construction
The carbon fiber construction provides a lightweight alternative to comparable aluminum prism poles.
Reduced pole weight can make the assembly easier to carry, extend, and hold during extended robotic surveying and construction layout work.
Adjustable Working Length
The SECO 5129-52 has the following specified length range:
- Extended length: 8.53 ft (2.60 m)
- Collapsed length: 4.97 ft (1.52 m)
The telescoping design provides additional working height while allowing the pole to retract for transportation and storage.
Ideal Applications
- Robotic total station surveying
- Construction layout
- Survey stakeout
- Prism positioning
- Boundary surveying
- Topographic surveying
- Utility layout
- Control-point measurements
- Engineering fieldwork
- General prism-pole applications
