Description
Overview
The SECO 90582 Matador Dual Lock Tripod is a heavy-duty fiberglass survey tripod designed to provide stable instrument support for total stations, theodolites, optical levels, and other compatible surveying equipment.
Its 6-5/8-inch flat head includes a large 2-5/8-inch center opening to make positioning the tripod over a survey point easier. Each leg uses both a quick clamp and screw clamp, giving operators fast adjustment with additional locking security.
Yellow fiberglass legs provide durability and resistance to changing field conditions, while orange aluminum hardware improves visibility. The tripod extends to 70.75 inches, collapses to 43.75 inches, and includes a protective snap cap and shoulder strap.

Dual-Lock Leg System
The SECO 90582 uses two locking mechanisms on each adjustable leg:
- Quick clamp
- Screw clamp
The quick clamps allow the legs to be extended and positioned efficiently, while the screw clamps provide an additional locking point for a secure instrument setup.
This dual-lock design is useful for precision surveying applications where stable leg positioning is important.
Large Flat Instrument Head
The tripod features a 6-5/8-inch flat head that provides a broad mounting platform for compatible surveying instruments.
A large 2-5/8-inch center opening improves visibility through the tripod head, making it easier to position the instrument directly over a control point, monument, nail, or other survey reference.
Standard 5/8-11 Instrument Stud
A standard 5/8-11 threaded brass stud provides compatibility with many common surveying instruments and accessories.
Compatible equipment may include:
- Total stations
- Robotic total stations
- Theodolites
- Optical levels
- Automatic levels
- Tribrachs
- Surveying adapters
Instrument mounting requirements should always be confirmed before use.
Fiberglass Legs
The yellow fiberglass legs provide a durable support structure for demanding field environments.
Fiberglass construction is resistant to moisture and changing weather conditions, making the tripod suitable for regular surveying, construction layout, and engineering fieldwork.
Replaceable Hardened-Steel Points
The tripod feet include replaceable points manufactured from hardened steel.
These durable points help provide secure footing on dirt, gravel, and other outdoor surfaces. Worn or damaged points can be replaced without replacing the complete tripod.
Adjustable Working Height
The SECO 90582 has the following specified height range:
- Extended height: 70.75 in (179 cm)
- Collapsed length: 43.75 in (111 cm)
The adjustable legs allow the instrument height to be configured for different operators, terrain conditions, and field applications.
Protective Head Cap
A snap-on cap is included to protect the tripod head during transportation and storage.
The cap helps shield the mounting surface and instrument stud from dirt, impact, and unnecessary wear when an instrument is not installed.
Included Shoulder Strap
The included shoulder strap makes the tripod more comfortable to carry between distant survey points and across larger jobsites.
This is especially useful when crews must transport the tripod along with an instrument, prism pole, controller, and other field equipment.
Ideal Applications
- Total station surveying
- Robotic total station operation
- Optical and automatic leveling
- Boundary surveying
- Topographic surveying
- Construction layout
- Control-point work
- Monitoring surveys
- Engineering fieldwork
- Precision instrument setup
