The Spectra Precision AL20M is a reliable and easy-to-use 20x magnification auto level, ideal for elevation control, site layout, cut/fill measurement, and landscaping applications. With 2.5 mm accuracy and magnetic dampening, it’s built to perform in demanding construction environments where stability and simplicity matter most.
Featuring a rugged metal housing, the AL20M offers long-term durability on job sites and includes continuous horizontal tangent drives for smooth and accurate targeting from either side. It also features an erect image optical system, stadia lines for quick distance estimation, and a large 30 mm aperture for bright viewing even in low-light conditions. The built-in bubble mirror helps speed up setup by making the circular bubble easily visible from the eyepiece position.
With a short minimum focus distance of 0.60 m (1.97 ft.), it’s perfect for both close-range and long-range leveling tasks. Each unit comes complete with a plumb bob, rain hood, adjustment tools, and a hard-shell carrying case.

Magnetic vs. Air Dampened Auto Levels
The AL20M uses a magnetic dampening system, which is ideal for use in high-vibration environments such as construction sites near heavy machinery. Magnetic dampening provides fast, stable leveling even when external vibrations are present.
In contrast, air-dampened models (like the AL32A or AL24A) offer higher leveling accuracy, making them better suited for precision tasks at long distances, such as engineering or surveying applications. If your work requires the best accuracy and you're in a stable environment, go with air-dampened. If you’re on active job sites and want reliable performance with less sensitivity to vibration, magnetic is the way to go.
