No-Crush Bipod Head
The SECO 5217-40 features a no-crush clamping head designed to protect compatible carbon-fiber range poles and prism poles.
The clamp limits damaging pressure against the pole, helping prevent crushing or cracking even when the operator applies excessive force. This makes the bipod especially useful with lightweight carbon-fiber poles that can be damaged by conventional clamps.
Open-Clamp Pole Mounting
The open bipod head allows compatible poles to be installed from the side without removing accessories from the top or bottom of the pole.
The clamp is designed for poles with outside diameters ranging from:
- 1 to 1.25 in
- 25.4 to 31.8 mm
Compatible 1.5-inch poles may also be loaded through the top of the clamp.
Always verify the pole diameter and mounting configuration before ordering.
Freestanding Pole Support
The bipod allows a surveyor to create a stable, freestanding setup for compatible:
- GNSS antenna poles
- Prism poles
- Range poles
- Rover rods
- Other survey poles within the supported diameter range
This allows the operator to temporarily step away from the pole while maintaining its position during setup, data entry, measurements, or layout work.
Independent Thumb-Release Legs
Each leg adjusts independently using a thumb-release mechanism.
Independent leg adjustment allows the bipod to be leveled and stabilized on slopes, uneven ground, curbs, and other irregular surfaces commonly encountered during surveying and construction work.
Adjustable Working Height
The legs extend to a maximum length of 6 feet, or approximately 1.8 meters.
When collapsed, the bipod measures 43 inches, or approximately 109 centimeters, making it easier to transport in a survey vehicle or carry between measurement points.
Included Bag and Leg Clip
A carrying bag is included to protect and organize the bipod during transportation and storage.
The included leg clip holds the collapsed legs together, helping prevent them from spreading or moving while the bipod is being carried.

The Construction Series Thumb-Release Bipod is offered in multiple color variants, including:
