Precision Leveling with RAB-Code Technology

The Topcon DL-501 incorporates advanced RAB-Code technology, precision optics, and a pendulum compensator with magnetic damping to deliver accurate and repeatable staff readings.

With a leveling accuracy of 0.3 mm per kilometer of double-run leveling when paired with a compatible BIS20 or BIS30 Invar staff, the DL-501 is ideal for precise elevation transfer, settlement monitoring, and engineering surveys.

The instrument also supports a specialized BIS30A Super-Invar staff, providing 0.2 mm/km accuracy when used with the DL-501 Advanced model.

High-Speed Electronic Measurements

Designed to improve field productivity, the DL-501 completes individual height and distance measurements in less than 2.5 seconds. Rapid repeat measurements take less than one second, helping crews collect more observations without sacrificing precision.

The 32x magnification telescope provides clear sighting, while the 1.6 to 100 m electronic measuring range accommodates a wide variety of leveling applications.

Even in challenging lighting conditions, the DL-501 can electronically read compatible staffs with as little as 20 lux of illumination at the staff surface.

Dual-Axis Tilt Detection and Automatic Compensation

The DL-501 features a pendulum compensator with magnetic damping and a dual-axis liquid tilt sensor for enhanced measurement reliability.

Its tilt-warning system can display visual notifications, produce audible alerts, and prevent measurements when instrument tilt exceeds ±8.5 minutes. These functions help reduce potential setup errors and improve the consistency of elevation measurements.

The compensator provides a working range of at least ±12 minutes with a setting accuracy of ±0.3 arcseconds.

Integrated Leveling Programs and Data Management

The DL-501 includes onboard line-leveling programs designed to streamline professional surveying workflows.

Supported leveling methods include BF, BFFB, BBFF, BFBF, aBF, aBFFB, and aFBBF. Up to two intermediate sights can be recorded in each measurement set.

Adjustable measurement tolerances and built-in error calculations allow operators to evaluate leveling quality directly in the field.

With 10,000 points of internal storage, removable SD/SDHC card support, USB flash memory compatibility, and an RS-232C interface, the DL-501 offers flexible data management for large surveying projects.
