Description

Overview

The SECO 5217-50-RED Quick Lever Bipod with Thumb-Release Legs provides fast, stable support for compatible prism poles, range poles, and GNSS rover rods with a 1.25-inch outside diameter.

Its Quick Lever locking mechanism uses a cam-action lever to make attaching and removing the pole fast and convenient. The no-crush head is contoured to help prevent excessive clamping pressure from damaging carbon-fiber poles, even when additional force is applied.

The locking components combine non-marring Delrin with an EPDM 80-durometer rubber plug to provide a secure grip without unnecessarily scratching or crushing the pole.

No-Crush Bipod Head

The SECO 5217-50-RED features a contoured no-crush head designed to protect compatible carbon-fiber poles.

Its shape and clamping system help distribute pressure around the pole, reducing the risk of crushing, cracking, or permanently deforming the pole when excessive clamping force is used.

This feature is particularly valuable with lightweight carbon-fiber prism poles and range poles that may be more vulnerable to conventional clamp pressure.

Quick Lever Locking Mechanism

The Quick Lever mechanism allows a compatible pole to be attached or detached quickly.

Its cam-action lever closes around the pole with a simple movement, eliminating the need to repeatedly turn a conventional clamp screw during setup and breakdown.

This fast operation is useful for crews who frequently move between survey points or switch the bipod between compatible poles.

Secure Cam-Action Hold

The lever’s cam action provides a mechanically secure grip around the pole.

Once closed, the mechanism holds the pole firmly in place to provide stable, freestanding support during measurements, equipment adjustments, and field-data entry.

Non-Marring Delrin Components

The locking mechanism is manufactured with non-marring Delrin material.

Delrin provides a durable contact surface that helps protect the pole finish from unnecessary scratches and metal-on-metal wear during repeated installation and removal.

EPDM Rubber Grip

An EPDM rubber plug with an 80-durometer hardness provides positive contact with the pole.

The rubber gripping surface helps prevent slipping while supporting the no-crush design. EPDM is also well suited for outdoor field equipment because of its resistance to weather and regular environmental exposure.

1.25-Inch Pole Compatibility

The SECO 5217-50-RED is designed for poles with an outside diameter of:

  • 1.25 in
  • 32 mm

Compatible pole types may include:

  • Carbon-fiber prism poles
  • Aluminum prism poles
  • GNSS rover rods
  • Range poles
  • Survey poles

Always verify the pole’s outside diameter before ordering.

Thumb-Release Legs

The bipod includes thumb-release leg controls for fast adjustment during setup.

The legs can be positioned to support the pole on varying terrain and then secured using the thumb-operated locking mechanisms.

Freestanding Pole Support

When properly set up, the SECO 5217-50-RED allows a compatible pole to stand independently.

This gives the operator the ability to temporarily release the pole while:

  • Entering field data
  • Adjusting a total station or controller
  • Checking measurements
  • Organizing equipment
  • Completing nearby layout work

The bipod should remain monitored and securely positioned, especially in wind, traffic, or active construction environments.

Ideal Applications

  • GNSS rover surveying
  • Prism pole support
  • Robotic total station surveying
  • Construction layout
  • Boundary surveying
  • Topographic surveying
  • Utility mapping
  • Grade staking
  • Engineering fieldwork
  • Freestanding survey pole setups
