Overview
The Stonex S1000 GNSS Receiver with Laser Distance Measuring is a high-performance all-in-one RTK receiver built for surveyors and construction professionals who need more than standard GNSS positioning. Combining a 1408-channel GNSS board, integrated IMU, 4G modem, internal UHF radio, laser distance measuring, and photogrammetry-ready dual cameras, the S1000 is designed to handle modern field workflows in one compact receiver.
What makes the S1000 stand out is its ability to measure points in multiple ways. In addition to traditional GNSS positioning, it can capture hard-to-reach points with its built-in laser, guide field crews visually with AR stakeout, and document scenes for photogrammetry and as-built workflows. For crews that want one receiver that can cover RTK surveying, stakeout, remote measurements, and image-based documentation, the S1000 is a very capable solution.

Laser Distance Measuring for Hard-to-Reach Points
One of the biggest advantages of the Stonex S1000 is its integrated laser distance meter. This built-in laser helps crews capture points that are difficult, unsafe, or impossible to occupy directly. When combined with GNSS and IMU positioning, the receiver can compute coordinates for inaccessible points quickly and efficiently.
This is especially useful for:
- Building corners
- Fence lines
- Utility features
- Wall faces
- Road edges
- Hard-to-access topo points
- Hazardous areas where direct occupation is not ideal
The green laser is aligned with the camera view to help the operator verify the exact point being measured. This helps improve confidence and speeds up field collection.
Laser Distance Meter Specifications
- Laser range: 30 m
- Laser precision: 2 mm
- RTK + laser accuracy: 1 cm + 5 mm/m
- Measurement rate: 3 Hz
AR Stakeout and Visual Field Guidance
The S1000 includes a dual-camera system that supports AR stakeout and visually guided field positioning. This makes stakeout more intuitive by helping the operator see where the target point is located instead of relying only on numerical guidance.
As the operator moves closer to the target, the camera workflow helps refine positioning for faster convergence and easier layout. This is especially helpful for:
- Construction stakeout
- Utility layout
- Site positioning
- Field crews working in complex environments
- Faster point finding with less guesswork
For many users, this can speed up stakeout and reduce frustration in the field.
Photogrammetry-Ready Documentation
The S1000 is also designed to support photogrammetry workflows. Its camera system can capture high-resolution imagery and video, allowing operators to document the site and later extract images for point alignment and coordinate generation.
This can be useful for:
- As-built documentation
- Site records
- Visual verification
- Photogrammetric point extraction
- Project documentation
- Revisiting site details after leaving the job
For surveyors who want more than just coordinate collection, the S1000 adds a practical image-based workflow to the receiver.
GNSS Performance
The Stonex S1000 is built around a UM980 GNSS engine with 1408 channels, offering strong satellite tracking and modern signal support across major constellations.

UHF, LoRa, and 4G Connectivity
The S1000 is built for flexible communication in the field. It features an internal 2W UHF radio, LoRa capability, and an internal 4G modem, giving crews multiple ways to receive and transmit correction data.
Internal UHF and LoRa
- Frequency range: 410–470 MHz
- Channel spacing: 12.5 kHz / 25 kHz
- Range: 3–4 km in urban environments
- Range: up to 12 km in optimal conditions
The LoRa communication capability is especially useful for base-rover setups where long-range, low-power communication is important.
Internal 4G Modem
The internal modem supports LTE, UMTS, and GSM bands, allowing field crews to connect to network RTK services and transfer data efficiently.
Hot-Swappable Dual Batteries
The S1000 includes two hot-swappable batteries, which helps keep the receiver running without interrupting work. This is a major benefit for longer survey days or crews working on high-production sites.
Power Specifications
- Battery type: Hot-swappable dual batteries
- Capacity: 3400 mAh each
- Voltage: 7.2V
- Working time: up to 12 hours
- Charge time: typically 4 hours
The receiver can also be powered by an external battery such as the Stonex EB-9000 or by a power bank.
