Overview
The Sokkia SR-S1 Professional Handheld 3D Scanner is a high-performance SLAM LiDAR reality-capture system built for surveyors, contractors, engineers, utility professionals, and geospatial teams that need fast, accurate 3D data across complex environments.
Using advanced multi-sensor fusion, the SR-S1 captures LiDAR, camera, IMU, GNSS, and RTK data simultaneously while the operator walks through the project site. Its integrated SLAM engine maintains a stable and repeatable trajectory, helping control drift when moving between open-sky areas, buildings, tunnels, utilities, covered spaces, and other GNSS-challenged environments.
With a scan rate of up to 640,000 points per second, a 120 m LiDAR range, and relative accuracy under 1 cm, the SR-S1 is designed for demanding professional applications where point-cloud detail, scanning speed, and measurement confidence matter.

Choose the SR-S1 When:
- Higher point density is important
- You need the longest available scanning range
- You want the strongest relative and LiDAR accuracy
- You are capturing roads, corridors, infrastructure, or large sites
- Vehicle or airborne collection is part of the workflow
- Detailed professional deliverables are the priority
- Faster capture of large areas can justify the larger scanner
Choose the SR-S2 When:
- Lower weight and handheld portability are the priority
- Most projects involve buildings, interiors, smaller jobsites, stockpiles, or short-range collection
- A 40 m to 70 m LiDAR range is sufficient
- You want an accessible SLAM scanner for everyday reality capture
- The highest scan rate and sub-centimeter relative accuracy are not required
The SR-S1 is the higher-performance professional model, offering more than three times the scan rate of the SR-S2, longer range, better relative accuracy, and more mounting flexibility. The SR-S2 is the lighter and more portable option, making it easier to carry for everyday handheld scanning.
What Is Topnet Live?
Topnet Live is Topcon’s real-time GNSS correction service used to improve positioning accuracy for compatible GNSS receivers in surveying, construction, GIS, mapping, agriculture, machine control, and related applications. Instead of setting up your own local base station, a compatible rover or RTK-enabled system can receive correction data through Topnet Live to achieve more accurate field positioning.
For the Sokkia SR-S1, Topnet Live is useful when you want stronger georeferenced scan data in supported coverage areas. It can help connect the scanner’s RTK workflow to correction services, improving positioning confidence during reality capture and site documentation.
Topnet Live includes different correction service options, including Realpoint RTK, Skybridge RTK backup, and Starpoint Pro PPP. Realpoint provides network RTK corrections via NTRIP, with horizontal accuracy listed at 2 cm, while Starpoint Pro provides global PPP corrections with horizontal accuracy of 3 cm and vertical accuracy of 5 cm.
In simple terms, Topnet Live helps the SR-S1 locate itself more accurately, especially when collecting georeferenced scan data for mapping, construction documentation, utilities, stockpiles, facilities, infrastructure, and site records.
Built for Professional Reality Capture
The SR-S1 allows one operator to walk through a site and continuously capture detailed spatial data without moving a conventional tripod scanner between multiple setups. This helps crews document larger or more complicated areas faster while maintaining immediate visibility into scan coverage.
Typical applications include:
- Construction documentation
- Existing-condition surveys
- Topographic data collection
- Utility mapping
- Open-trench documentation
- Progress monitoring
- As-built surveys
- Stockpile and volume measurement
- Facility documentation
- Infrastructure inspection
- Road and corridor mapping
- Tunnel and mining surveys
- Indoor mapping
- Underground data collection
- Forestry and heavily obstructed environments
Real-time point-cloud preview helps the operator confirm coverage before leaving the site, reducing the chance of missed areas, return visits, and rework.
High-Speed XT32 LiDAR
The SR-S1 uses an XT32 LiDAR sensor capable of collecting up to 640,000 points per second. Its high point density helps capture more surface detail while moving through the site, making it suitable for detailed documentation, measurement, surface analysis, and model creation.
The LiDAR system provides:
- Detection range up to 120 m / 393.7 ft
- Accuracy of 0.5 cm / 0.20 in.
- 280° horizontal field of view
- 360° vertical field of view
- Class 1 eye-safe laser
- 905 nm wavelength
This combination of speed, range, and accuracy makes the SR-S1 especially well suited for larger sites, long corridors, detailed structures, and projects where scanning efficiency is critical.
RTK, PPK, and GCP Support
The SR-S1 includes a 1408-channel GNSS receiver supporting GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, and SBAS signals. It can receive NTRIP RTK corrections and supports RTCM 3.x correction data.
Listed RTK performance includes:
- Horizontal RTK accuracy: 0.8 cm + 1 ppm
- Vertical RTK accuracy: 1.5 cm + 1 ppm
RTK, PPK, and ground-control-point workflows help strengthen georeferencing and improve confidence that the scan is properly positioned within the project coordinate system.
This flexibility is valuable when moving through mixed environments where GNSS may be available outdoors but reduced or unavailable indoors, underground, or beneath structures.
Real-Time Colorized Point Clouds
The Sokkia SR-S1 supports real-time processing and colorization, allowing crews to view scan coverage during collection. Its five-camera system includes two visual SLAM cameras and three 12 MP panoramic cameras for detailed color imagery.
Supported deliverables include:
- Colored LAS point clouds
- LOD-OSGB mesh data
- JPG panoramic images
- Orthophotos through MAGNET Bridge
- Length, area, and volume calculations
This gives users more than a visual scan. The resulting dataset can be used to measure features, verify conditions, calculate quantities, create documentation, and support design or construction decisions after the site visit.
MAGNET Flow Field Software
MAGNET Flow provides the field collection interface for the SR-S1 and is compatible with Android and iOS devices.
MAGNET Flow supports:
- Scanner control
- Project creation and management
- Starting and stopping data collection
- Real-time point-cloud browsing
- Ground-control-point collection
- RTK and NTRIP configuration
- Firmware updates
- Field verification of scan coverage
The mobile workflow allows the operator to control the scanner from a compatible phone or tablet without carrying a dedicated proprietary field controller.
MAGNET Bridge Processing
MAGNET Bridge provides the desktop processing workflow for transforming raw SR-S1 data into finished project deliverables.
MAGNET Bridge supports:
- SLAM point-cloud processing
- RTK, PPK, and GCP-supported workflows
- Point-cloud colorization
- Length measurements
- Area calculations
- Volume calculations
- Orthophoto creation
- True-scale imagery
- Quality review and project preparation
This connected workflow helps move data from field collection to usable survey, construction, mapping, and documentation outputs without requiring multiple disconnected software platforms.
Collage Web Sharing
Processed SR-S1 data can be shared through Collage Web for online viewing and evaluation by project teams, clients, engineers, or other stakeholders.
Collage Web provides a practical way to distribute reality-capture results without requiring every recipient to have desktop point-cloud software. It is especially useful for remote project review, progress documentation, condition verification, and client collaboration.

Optional Topnet Live Configuration
A Topnet Live subscription may be added for RTK-supported georeferenced scanning workflows.
Topnet Live is Topcon’s GNSS correction service. It allows the SR-S1 to receive network RTK corrections through NTRIP instead of requiring a local GNSS base station in supported coverage areas. This can improve positioning confidence when collecting georeferenced scan data for mapping, utilities, construction documentation, stockpiles, and site records.
The Topnet Live term and service configuration depend on the selected SR-S1 package.
