Six Onboard Measurement Solutions

The TruPulse 200i combines a laser range sensor, integrated tilt sensor, and internal processor to measure or calculate six commonly used field values:

  • Slope distance
  • Inclination
  • Horizontal distance
  • Vertical distance
  • Height
  • 2D missing line

These onboard functions reduce manual calculations and allow measurements to be collected from a safe or accessible position. They are particularly useful when measuring trees, poles, structures, clearances, slopes, spans, and inaccessible targets.

Improved Distance and Inclination Accuracy

The TruPulse 200i can achieve distance accuracy of 0.1 meter (4 inches) when measuring a high-quality target at distances below 1,000 meters.

For low-quality targets or measurements beyond 1,000 meters, rated distance accuracy is 0.2 meter (8 inches).

Inclination accuracy is rated at:

  • 0.1° from 0° to ±30°
  • 0.2° from ±30° to ±90°

This improved tilt accuracy supports more dependable height, vertical-distance, slope, and steep-angle measurements.

Advanced TruTargeting Modes

Five targeting modes help the operator select the correct object when multiple targets, vegetation, or reflective surfaces are present.

  • Standard Mode: Acquires a single target and continues searching when necessary for a higher-quality return
  • Closest Mode: Displays the nearest target acquired during the measurement
  • Farthest Mode: Displays the most distant target acquired
  • Continuous Mode: Continuously updates measurements while the FIRE button is held
  • Filter Mode: Reduces laser sensitivity to detect returns from a reflector when used with the optional mechanical foliage filter

These options improve target discrimination when measuring through brush, across active worksites, or toward objects positioned along the same line of sight.

Adjustable Range Gate

The TruPulse 200i allows minimum and maximum measurement distances to be established before taking a shot.

  • Short Gate: Ignores objects closer than the selected minimum distance
  • Long Gate: Ignores objects beyond the selected maximum distance
  • Combined Gate: Limits measurements to a defined window between the short and long gate values

Range gating helps prevent nearby objects or targets behind the intended measurement point from producing an unwanted reading.

Fast Target Acquisition and Shot Confirmation

Target acquisition takes approximately 0.5 seconds under suitable conditions. Once the target is acquired, the TruPulse 200i provides clear confirmation through the display, an audible response, and an optional tactile pulse.

This combination gives the operator immediate feedback without requiring the instrument to be lowered or the target to be reacquired.

Ultra-Bright Optics and Adjustable Display

The TruPulse 200i features 5× magnification, thru-the-lens viewing, and approximately 80% light transmission for improved target visibility.

Its ultra-bright LED heads-up display includes five brightness levels for use in:

  • Bright sunlight
  • Overcast conditions
  • Wooded or shaded areas
  • Indoor environments
  • Low-light field conditions

The operator can also select a full reticle, crosshair, box, or dot to match the target and measurement application.

Bluetooth Dual Mode Connectivity

Bluetooth 4.0 Dual Mode supports both Bluetooth Low Energy and Bluetooth Classic communication.

  • Bluetooth Low Energy: Compatible with iOS and Android devices
  • Bluetooth Classic: Compatible with Windows and Android devices

Measurement data can be transferred to compatible GIS applications, mobile devices, data collectors, and field software, reducing manual entry and helping prevent transcription errors.

Three-Point Height Measurement

The onboard three-point height routine calculates the height of a vertical object using:

  1. Horizontal distance to the object
  2. Inclination to the base
  3. Inclination to the top

The TruPulse 200i automatically calculates the resulting height. Because the two inclination shots do not require a laser return, the operator does not need a perfectly clear line of sight to both the top and bottom after the horizontal-distance measurement is captured.

This routine is ideal for trees, poles, buildings, towers, and other generally vertical objects.

Two-Point Height Measurements

For leaning objects, the operator can measure the vertical distance to the base and top separately, then calculate the total height from the difference between the two values.

This method requires a clear line of sight for both laser measurements and is useful when the standard three-point routine is not appropriate.

2D Missing-Line Measurement

The 2D missing-line routine calculates the relationship between two independently measured targets.

After measuring the first and second points, the TruPulse 200i calculates:

  • Horizontal distance between the points
  • Vertical distance or change in elevation
  • Slope distance between the points
  • Inclination from the first point to the second

This function is useful for measuring clearances, spans, remote slopes, changes in elevation, and distances between inaccessible objects.

TruPulse 200i vs. TruPulse 360i

The TruPulse 200i and TruPulse 360i share many of the same distance, inclination, height, targeting, display, Bluetooth, and missing-line functions.

The primary difference is that the TruPulse 360i adds an integrated compass and azimuth measurement. This gives the 360i additional capabilities, including:

  • Azimuth and directional measurements
  • Three-dimensional missing-line calculations
  • Compass-based laser offset measurements
  • Magnetic declination adjustment
  • Advanced GIS and three-dimensional mapping workflows

Choose the TruPulse 200i for distance, inclination, height, horizontal distance, vertical distance, and two-dimensional missing-line measurements.

Choose the TruPulse 360i when azimuth, compass positioning, three-dimensional missing-line measurements, or full laser-offset mapping is required.

Rugged Field-Ready Construction

The TruPulse 200i combines a strong magnesium chassis with a rubber-armored aluminum housing. Its compact design weighs only 382.6 grams with batteries while providing an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating.

The instrument is designed to operate in temperatures from -20°C to 60°C (-22°F to 140°F), making it suitable for demanding field environments throughout the year.
